Default speed wobbles

03 fxdx, Im having speed wobbles on the freeway. If i accelerate hard and let of real quick ill get wobbles, switching lanes and hitting a reflector gives me wobbles thought it might be my supper old tire but just got a new one put on today and its still the same.

Ive tightened the steering bearing nut and it hasnt done much. The bearing seem fine no flat spots or grinding that I can feel

So and suggestions on a next step would be helpful

What's your tire pressure? If your wheels are spoked, how long since they've been trued? When you tightened the steering head nut, did you loosen the lower triple clamp pinch bolts first, and did you actually measure the fall-away?

EDIT: Just checked, fall-away spec on that bike is 1.0-2.0 inches.

This post concerns me: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...k-options.html
Have you had it checked out, since it was in a crash?

Ah, I didn't notice that. Yeah, definitely have the front end components checked to be sure they're not bent. Forks, wheel, steering head mainly.

I did check the fall away and if i loosen it to spec the wobbles are worse. so i tightened it up quite a bit and it helped a lot but I still get them. and No spokes, cast wheel and 36psi

i have not had it checked out but it has new forks and front wheel. So i hope its not frame damage. Ive had it all apart and nothing looks bent but im eye balling it

And yes when i adjusted the steering head nut i loosened the lower triple tree and the one right under the steering head nut.

If i loosen my grip on the bars the wobbles stop, if I get a good grip on them I get wobbles. Maybe it's user error? I do usually hold on for dear life on the freeway with all the wind hitting my chest

That's an issue..., also a cause of hand cramping

Work to get comfortable enough to ride loose and relaxed - yet always in control

Check the swingarm bearings/bushings for play, remove the rear wheel and the lower shock mount bolts, zip tie the shocks out of the way.
Any side to side movement or click-click movements at the axle end means its time to rebuild the pivot.
