It doesn't replace it,, it's a "piggyback". Installer un-plug's the main harness at the ECU, plugs one side of the PC5 harness into the ECU the the other side into the factory harness,, it looks like this photo; http://www.solomotoparts.com/Dynojet...FQODaQod4ZwKSw
There's a fair amount of time involved and some significant twisting and burying of those big wire harnesses, I pulled my battery box to get my big club hands in there to do the job.
There is always arguments about using the O2's or not and it sometimes get's to be a heated discussion.
The PC5 is designed to not use the O2's unless using another component the PC5 "Autotune"
(so those saying to use the O2's are clueless about the PC5) http://www.powercommander.com/downlo...g15-019.02.pdf

Thanks for confirming, that's also what I thought after reading the PC5 manual. I think I'm going to install the PC5 stock map and see how she runs. I don't want to remove the PC5 so as to keep the option of mounting another pipe down the line.
Just unplug it, plug in the ECM and if you want to change pipes down the road, plug it back in. It's super easy...
You've never installed one have you.(?)
That plug you say is "super easy", is not in an easy plug/un-plug position.
It can be done, that's for sure,, but what's with the must use O2's gig anyway?
Oh,, that's right,, the closed idle/low speed loop,,, right I forgot

I've installed plenty. It's not hard...I see no reason not to use the O2s. The PCV is known to have issues with connections that cause the bike to run like crap after time. I don't like piggy back tuners and don't see the reason to run one if using stock equipment.
Stock pipes mounted, PC5 map downloaded and uploaded. Bike runs great, like the sound much better than the loud raspy V&H pipes. Seems to run smoother too. Thanks for all the input guys !!
