hello again well ive just fitted my bigshot exhaust and a stage 1 SE air filter and SE pro tuner and when i back off i get lots of popping in the exhaust any tips on how to get this to stop thanks pete
Big Shot's are decel popping and burbling champions; decel popping isn't a lean condition, it has to do with fresh air mixing with unburnt fuel coming out of the engine under off throttle situations, when the AFR is right it burns off in the hot pipe.
The typical solution is adding fuel off-throttle to alter the AFR which prevents the fuel from burning in the hot pipes along with preventing the reversion of fresh air in the exhaust system... the stock exhaust has decel popping as well, you just can't hear it as readily.
I have no experience with the SE pro tuner; with my Big Shot's it was a case of once tuning was completed to use my Power Vision's Quick Tune to increase my decel fuel and decel V/E percentages a few points along with removing the stock baffles and adding DK Custom W158 Thunder Torque inserts. The inserts increase exhaust velocity and scavenging while helping to prevent reversion of fresh air back in to the exhaust off throttle.
Zero decel popping or burbling and the pipes have a much deeper tone with the brighter overtones removed from the exhaust note...
I just installed my big shots 3 days ago. I've read about the decell pop and I couldnt for thr life of me get it to do it. I have a have a stg 1 cleaner and a fuel pak. Zero pops. I also used 2 SE gaskets per bore on the recommendation of the local HD dealer. I think over a 60 mile ride I heard it pop once on a 1st to 2nd shift.
