Default New bike exhaust question

Please dont bash me for this. But i wanna ask another tuner question. I have searched till im blue in the face with mixed results. I have a new 2016 street bob. An I am almost do for my 1k service. I already have several cosmetic items ordered and ready to be put on. An want to order a set of vance and hines big shots today. An plan to put them on in the next week or two right after first service. Granted everything checks out ok.. An want to know if i will be ok without a fuel pak or tuner with just the vh big shots. I can handle a little decel pop and cracking but i dont want to damage my bike or void a warrenty. But i already have a bunch of money tied up in this so i was hoping i could get by without a tuner atleast for a while till i can save up a lil more and get a nice one if needed. I dont care if i ever get a highflow air cleaner or more ponys for that matter. My bike is fast enough for me the way it is. I just want more sound. Stock pipes suck. Is there anybody out there running late models with after market exhuast without a tune? Does it run ok. Or should i just put the money i really dont wanna spend and get a tuner?
At first i was just gonna get slip ons. But i have read where a few people have said they werent very much improvement over stock on new bikes because of the cat and **** in the stock head pipes. So i have decided to go to a full exhaust system and really like the looks and sound of the big shots. Advice?

Maybe someone will come along and disagree, but I would say that you really should get some sort of tune, to fuel richening device. The stock tune is garbage, and the bike runs hotter than it should. Adding pipes will just magnify the issue. Can you run it without? Probably, but you be putting more stress on the bike with the added heat, and lean tune.

Why run lean?? Get Fuel Moto's micro tuner it's cheap, works and will hold you for what ever your "while" is. That's what I would do.

Do yourself a favor...get a tuner...well worth the small investment. Many out there and some pretty economical.

I agree you should get a tuner, and breather even if you're just going for sound. EFI takes data from the sensors and responds accordingly. I once heard a guy who dyno tunes bikes that its not an absolute necessity depending on your engine modifications. You'll probably be ok, but I personally wouldn't and didn't do it. Also, I have the FP3. I haven't had any problems with it but I wouldn't buy it again.

Anyway, read through this.

If you just replace the stock exhaust with a free flowing exhaust and leave the air cleaner stock you will NOT need a tune. The ECM will adjust. However, you will probably get decel pop and lose some bottom end torque.

The cat(s) are in the muffler on the Street Bob, not in the header pipes. Slip on's would eliminate the cats on your bike. I have S&S Slip on's on my SB and they sound great. Why spend all that extra money modding your Bob and not get a tuner? Your bike will run without one but it will run alot better with one. If your going to do it, you may as well do it right.
