01 FXD Neutral Switch

I need to remove / replace the neutral switch on a 2001 FXD. I know the location of the switch, but can't figure out how to get to it with a wrench without removing the battery and maybe the starter.

I have searched the forums and internet for a couple of days now and can't find the answer so I thought I would post this and see if anyone new an easy trick to do this.

Without going out in the cold garage, the switch is on top of the transmission cover with a plug attached to it, won't the box end of a combination wrench fit on it? I remember taking mine off many years ago and cleaned the bottom of it.

I don't have a box wrench short enough with the amount of room that is there. If I knew which size it was I would just go buy one and make it short enough. 🙂

I'm pretty sure that a short crescent, or as some call them, adjustable wrench will fit. You can also use water pump, ie channel lock, pliers. All you have to do is break the torque and it should come out by hand.
