I keep hearing, and have experienced myself the dreaded buffeting from many different types of Screens, and I was looking at the oldtimer windshields and most of them had a tubing around the edges, maybe it was cosmetic, or maybe it was a cure for buffeting, has anybody tried to put some tubing around their windshields that buffet to see if it takes buffeting away.
I raised the shield, lowered the shield, cut the shield all to no avail. I ride with a helmet which I think makes buffeting that much worse. I finally gave up, decided that a shield had no place on my fat bob. I did get a seat with removable back rest which absorbs the pressure on the chest I was trying to eliminate. Good luck
Well to be honest I solved my buffeting problem, I just changed to a National cycle deflector for fatbob, and you can move it around in many directions, so buffeting has gone, but still have a head like a mule and trying to find a fix for this Harley quick release, which is a little bigger, and useful in the rain, but cannot go above 70mph with it otherwise head gets knocked off lol.

i have a Dyna and Sportster that have the same frontend, I have 3 different HD Q windshields and the HD quarter fairing that I interchange. The air causing the buffeting is coming from below. When I put on a tank bag for long hauls any buffeting disappears. Without the tank bag I noticed that a tool attached below Headlight to block the slot between the forks also helped a lot. It looks like you would get a bit of a blast from the gap between the windshield and the headlight mine is a lot tighter. Another thing I do is run with a shorter windshield. The sporty has the quarter fairing and the dyna has a QR 14". That way even with an oblique headwind i still get clearair over my helmet. I know the quarter fairing goes on the Dyna (that is where i got it) but it is too small for sustained rides ton up.
Actually you might not get buffeting, it depends on many things, some people get lucky with their windshields, and others well, just have to dig deep and find solutions, I started this thread just because I may have found a solution with the tubing around the screen, but to icy to test outside for the moment.

Agree 100% with all you say, I am just trying to figure out a way to save the screens that buffet on the cheap lol, because it is really useful in the rain and for long long trips.

I tried a shield also. Did the raising, lowering, cutting it down some (which made it worse), so it now resides in the shed. It was used and cheap so I didn't lose much on it.
