96 dyna fluid capacities - HELP please?
Just bought a 96 super glide, fluids need changed. Bought a service manual on ebay, haven't rec'd it yet. I'massuming the case is 3 qts, need some help with the primary & tranny?? Thanks!

Are you talking about an '07Twin Cam 96, or a year 1996 bike? If you're talking about the TC96 Super Glide the capacities are as follow >>>
Engine oil - 2.5 quarts (once I let her warm up, I had to add a bit more oil to bring her to full hot)
Primary - 1 quart
Transmission - 1 quart
I just did my 1000 mile service (on my '07 TC96 Super Glide) and this is the information I got from my owners manual.

if its a 1996, try the evo tech page if you don't get a response here. i will i still had my evomanual, i changed the fluid enough you'd think id remember. sorry brother.

i had a 1996 dyna fxd the oil change is 3 qrts primary it was roughly 28 oz i believe or just under the trans was 20 to 24 oz stood straight up with foller cap just sitting in hole not screwed in.

Thanks for the replies, it's a 1996 Evo-Dyna. Now I have a new problem........the drain plug for the pan is stripped! Someone mentioned Helicoil?? not sure what that is?

drag, mine oil drain plug was stripped too on my old bike. some shops sell a "kit" for repair. its a slightly over sized tap and new drain plug. check that out. i never got around to fixing mine, just used rtv between changes, held for 10,000 miels with 2500 mi between changes. but i would take the pan off and dothe tappingon a bench. it can be removed without removing the tranny.

Thanks, I stopped at Reibes on the way home, picked up on of those oversize drain plugs, loaded it up with red loctite and it snugged up real nice. Cheap fix for now! I called my indy shop and he said he could fix it under the ext warranty so this should last fine until then.

Man... I'm glad I read this thread. I just did my first tranny fluid change on my new (to me) '96 FXDWG. I only put in 16oz thanks to the Clymer, lubrication and tune-up section. After reading 06dynablacks reply, I looked further and found in the transmition chapter, 20-22oz for the 95 on Dynas[:@]!
Any chance I did any harm being low 4oz for about 12 miles?
