Turn Signal Stock issues.
The Stalk #68664-06A, Photo 1 in the attachment;
Item 4, Photo 2 in the attachment;
Pictured in Photo 3 in the attachment with the threaded end snapped off.
As you can see in Photo 3 the actual material left after the threads were cut and the hole in the center was drilled for the wires to go through may have .060 of material left. Not much material to do any torqueing on or making for a solid foundation to mount the light to.
The instructions calls for the Jam Nut, Item 3 in Photo 2, to be tightened against the lockwasher, Item 2 in Photo 2, to 8-10 ft.-lbs while holding the Turn Signal Housing, Item F in Photo 2. Well thats kind of hard to get a Torque Wrench on with the Housing in place.
I did the best I could for Torque feel and felt if anything I had not tightened it enough, but after 3 days or riding the Stalk broke off as shown in in Photo 3.
When installing the new Stalk I was even more cautious tightening the Jam nut, I used a heck of a lot of Locktite and hardly tightened the Nut this time. Hopefully it will hold.
The Design intent is great but the actual design needed to include a new Turn Signal Housing that had a much larger threaded hole in it to allow the Stalk threads to be larger also, IMO.
Photo 4 in the attachment is the final Assembly of the Directional Relocation Kit.
Ive rode about 50 miles since the re-install, hopefully it will hold without coming loose or breaking. Im wondering if someone accidently bumped it if itd snap off then.
