I've heard this a lot. I was planning to put them on my Low Rider S, but now I think I'm good with the stock caps.
Honestly, I would still highly suggest them. They look great. However, the next one I get I'm gonna buy a roll of 3m tape (the same stuff that holds rain guards on car windows) and use that. I figure if that stuff can hold rain guards on a cage at 115 mph, it should be able to hold a trim ring on. The rings come with what I think is 3m tape, but the trim ring bottom surface isn't solid, I'm gonna use rto to fill the bottom so it's solid, then use the 3m tape.thatll hold that ****er on there for sure. If for some reason it doesn't, then I'll use a silicone rtv, that way if I do ever get rid of the bike (though I plan on dying with this bike) I can just peel it off with my fingernail. Trust me, it's worth it, they look very good.

My flush mount trim ring didn't budge in 90,000. The ring in the cap actually wore out first. My guess is the adhesive in the double sided tape didn't like the fresh paint/clearcoat.
Im so happy that parts started coming in and I've been able to start putting this thing back together. Today my BBC dash came in, good thing Im not far from their shop so It got here next day. Anyways I got it all mounted and in its new home. It was pretty easy to install, hardest part was getting the vent hose and fuel pump wiring to sit in the grooves cut out at on the underside. I used a dremel with a cut off bit attached and covered the rest of the paint with dog potty pads, which but the way are a great thing to have laying around the garage for oil changes and what not. The cover went on easily and now all I'm waiting for is my back ordered brake pedal and wheels then shell rolling!!!
Like I mentioned before, my brake pedal is still on back order. I have no clue why that specific part would be on BO but it is and it sucks because that was probably the most noticeable and most damaged part in the MVC. So, being the impatient person that I am, I had to improvise. I heard a saying once thats states "It isn't the talent that makes an artist, its what they do with their mistakes that makes an artist." So I took my asphalt ground down brake pedal and cleaned it up a bit and added some highlights to the top.
I hit it with a dremel and polished it up with some Mothers Alum Polish and it came out... eh, decent. Yea it still looks like sh*t because its a ruined part, but it will work until I get my new pedal and some battle scars never hurt anyone. Now Ive got that custom contrast cut brake pedal haha Also got the TBR pipe mounted along with the foot peg too.
In regards to the ring on the fuel filler side, I peeled the ring from the adhesive, which was still stuck to the tank itself. I applied 6 drops of gorilla glue to the groove where the tape sits and taped it down and let it sit over night. I don't think it will be going anywhere now.
How do you like the tbr exhaust compared to your thunderheader?
So oddly enough, Ive had a thunderheader and a TBR on both my bikes I have right now. My TBR on the FXDX sounded just like every other shorty stainless pipe. I do have to note that the TBRs build quality, fit to the bike and fitting the exhaust together itself was very good, the best I've installed. It has a stepped header which is good if you ever plan to do a little motor work. I just didn't like the sound. On the S, its same fit and finish but it is super loud, which is fine with me, but there isn't really a good tone. Like I said, it just sounds the same as all the others.
The reason Im a thunderheader fanboy is because of the tone. Its the one pipe, IMO, that you can literally feel the bass in your body. The finish isn't the best on the black pipes but the chrome is a little better though. I just haven't found a pipe that sounds better. Especially on the S, its not your typical deep sounding harley, its a little higher pitched because of the 110 and I love it, its exactly what I was looking for. Ill probably end up with a chrome one one the S in the near future.
I'm going to be putting on the LD 13" bars soon and was wondering if you had some pics of your +8 cables on your 14" bars. I cannot decide between +6 or +8.
