Great write up! I wouldn't do that myself, but it was cool to see the details.

haha that's funny. Seriously though, if you can follow procedures in the manual and know how to use a torque wrench, then it's just nuts and bolts. It's easy to get intimidated by the fact that you're basically doing a top end rebuild, but you just have to break it down to simpler procedures. Such as tank/exhaust/intake removal, then t body/fuel injectors, then rocker assembly, then heads, etc. when you break it down, it's very simple. If you can do brakes, or ape hangers, or wheels/tires, you can do this. If you need help, that's what we're all here for

im using the performance wrapped baffle.

Quick update, I did got a new tune from dyno jet, did my first 50 miles in auto tune. Ran like complete ****. About 20 miles in I export learned values, and reflashed, bike ran nice and smooth. No more popping and dying on accel, still stayed under 2500 rpm, and only 1/4 throttle. Noticed I have that "cammy" sound both in the exhaust, and also through the air cleaner. Not sure if that's normal or if it needs to be tuned out or what, but so far I'm very happy, and I can't wait for break in to be over.

Great Job Nick, You're definitely a better mechanic than photographer ! Just kidding, this comes in really handy when talking about the order of doing things. I 'm about to replace my cylinders and pistons for the first time, but it will be the second time going in from the top. This has been really helpful.

Good luck with the break in and ride safe!

lol no argument there. Well good **** man I'm glad someone is getting some use out of it. It was a pain in the *** to upload all the pics cause I had to do it on my phone. Literally took about 3 hours to do all that. And it wouldn't load them in the right order either. Plus I still have to go through it on the computer and edit any mistakes. Best of luck with your engine and if ya need anything, were here.

Very nice job Nick! Did a 103 kit to a 96 adding new cams, cam plate and oil pump along with it a few years ago with the help of a friend. Basically the same thing without messing with replacing the TB. Did it in an easy weekend taking our time cleaning and analyzing things as we went. You are right Nick; anyone who knows which end of a wrench to use should be able to do this. It's not rocket science. I read the kit instructions a few times and went through the pertinent parts of the SM so I was familiar with what had to be done. Just follow instructions and shop manual as you go. Very satisfying when it's all done. Again, thanks for posting the procedure. I'm sure you'll inspire more folks to "dive in" and just do it!
