Default Se 117 broken in

Well I now have 516 miles on my 117 build. Wow. It's pure ****in insanity. It's just so fast. Anyway unfortunately I have an oil leak coming from either the lifter cover or the pushrod cover on the rear cylinder but other than that everything looks and runs good. Yes, I replaced all gaskets/o rings when I built it. So I've been running auto tune basic during the whole 500 mile break in, but I didn't take it past 3k rpm til I hit 100 miles, and didn't go past 3500 rpm til I hit 500 miles. I ran my auto tune for the rest of the rpm range. I'm only tuning it to 6k rpm, but don't plan on going past 5.5k rpm. As you can see from the pic in my next post, I've more than covered my normal riding rpm range. To anyone considering this kit, yes there are other ways to build comparable hp/tq, but I absolutely love this kit. It came with everything I wanted and I'm glad I bought it. I would highly suggest this kit to anyone looking for more hp/tq.

Mas you can see, I still have some "fine tuning" (no pun intended) to do on the top right and 5500-6000 rpm range. Once I fix the oil leak, I'll be back at it. I will at some point have it dyno tuned. However I still have to find a good tuner in my area. I don't want to go through the HD dealer because they tune for "maximum power AND fuel economy". This leads me to believe it will be running lean, and hot, like it did from the factory. I'll be running hot enough just having the 117, and I don't want to worry every time I'm stuck in traffic. I will keep you guys updated.

I'm ready to put mine, just waiting my heads to come back from T-Man (4 weeks...dammit man) and my crank from Darkhorse. I'm going to run some parts out of the kit. If I wasn't running the 660 cam I would've ran the tappets and pushrods that came with it. So far I've sold the pistons, cams, pushrods and lifters to a friend, so it worked out. I ended up purchasing Mahle domed pistons from Suburban HD, T-Man 660sm cams and pushrods, S&S Tappets and roller rockers. While it's apart I'm going to go ahead and do the Timken sleeve and put my True-Track on. Heavy Breather Elite, Scorpion Clutch and pushrod covers should be here this week. Hopefully I'll have it all back together in the next month and a half and this crappy Ohio weather will break. If not I'll just slum it on the softail, at least it a built 120" lol. Then it's off to Roeder's to get tuned. Awesome write up by the way.

Guess I'll add an oil cooler to my list too... it never ends.

Badass bro don't forget to take pictures. You got any of the softail? I wanna do a s&s 124 night train for my next build. Thank you, I try lol. It was my first build and first build post so hopefully everyone liked it. Definitely looking forward to seeing your setup.

yea once the temperatures start getting higher I'll be buying a jagg fan assisted oil cooler. I want to see how hot it runs first though, then see exactly how big a difference the faoc makes. I love my Harley, but there's still so much I want to do. Now that I found a solution for the 350.00 brake line, I think my next move will be installing the apes from my old street bob

Oh and if anyone has any advice on how to hit the cells on the top right, I'm all ears.

I forgot I orders the lower rocker boxes in wrinkle black for the Lowrider. The gloss was driving me crazy. As for the Softail, let me look on my laptop to see if I have any pics of when it went back together. My pictures wouldn't transfer over to my new phone for some reason. I'm thinking about putting the T-Man 124" cylinders on mine in the fall. Originally I had spun a wrist pin bushing on the back cylinder... good ol' tapered rods.... I then it was all down hill from there.

SE 4.06 cylinders
SE Hurricane Heads
S&S .640 Easy start cams
SE tappets
SE Roller rockers
SE billet can plate and oil pump
Crank work by Darkhorse
RB Racing challenge pipe
Zippers chain conversion
And some crap I'm forgetting at this time.

07' Softail Custom
