Default Finally! Power Vision OTW

Well I finally took the leap and ordered a PV today from fuel moto. For my 2016 fxdb with vh bss exhaust. I ordered my exhaust through fuel moto and installed it a while back. An had lots of decel pop afterward. Which i expected since i could even here some decel pop with my stock exuast before i made the switch. The vh bss just amplified the issue and made it alot more noticable. I did however make double sure i didnt have any exhaust leaks before i ordered a tuner. In hopes that would fix the issue for a while. But it didnt work and i ended up ordering a fp3 and naked air intake. But before i installed either of them i sent them back because i was worried the powervision would be a better fit and i wasnt sold on the naked air intake. So now all i gotta do is find the intake i want and get this new tuner installed when it gets here and hopefully i will be set. I really thought when i bought the bike the fp3 is what i would end up with eventually when i went to stage 1. But since fuel moto has given me excellent support so far and the price difference was only about 70 bucks i went with the pv. The fp3 is about 329 from them and the pv is on sale right now for 399. Even though i dont plan on going past a stage 1 i think the pv is worth the extra 70 bucks from what i habe been reading on here for the last several months. When i get it in im gonna try and make a video of the difference the tune makes and give some real feedback on the pv results. Hopefully i can get rid of most of the decel pop and my bike will run cooler. We will see. Hope you guys can help me out if i run into any issues. This is the first time i have ever used a tuner of any kind on my motorcycles but i dont feel intimidated yet.
I have read a bunch of post about who likes the pv and who likes the fp3 and why. But i couldnt find alot of hardcore results from either. Most just say they love one or the other or it improved the preformance of there bike. Hopefully i can post some positve before and after results when it comes in and i get it on. Going to try and record the decel pop before the pv and after. Then record the difference once auto ran a few times. Along with documenting operating temp changes before and after etc. This was a big decision for me because im not made of money by any mans standards. An my initial intent was i just wanted louder decent pipes to replace my stock whispering pipes. Hopefully i get it all lined out before we head to daytona next month.

Sorry for the long post just excited.

Fuel Moto for the win! They'll send you a great base map; a few auto tune runs, a gentle tweak to your decel fueling and decel V/E's in the PV's quick tune if necessary to finally remove any remaining decel popping and burbling and you'll be very pleased with the results.

There are lots of little tricks and the Power Vision is an amazing device. The Power Vision and a J&S lift are the two smartest things I've bought for my Wide Glide

Yea I dont see why anyone would buy from anywhere except fuel moto. There prices are hard to beat and seem to have untouched customer service. I have a feeling this weekend im gonna get all jacked up on power vision and exhaust fumes. Haha they said it would be here more then likely by Saturday. Which is super fast delivery as well..

Excellent

When you get the PV install the WinPV software then you'll want to double check that you're running the latest firmware upgrades before you plug in the Power Vision to the bike for the first time.

The PV will 'marry' to your VIN, then copy your original tune; from there you can go in to custom tunes and that's where you'll find the Fuel Moto tune. Flash the new tune and you're on your way.

When you auto tune, a few tricks that will help you get results quickly. I mount the PV on the bars and during an auto tune run I set it up so I can monitor the fuel cells as they fill in with data. They'll go from green to yellow/orange then to red when the cell maxes out on data. That screen is the 'hits' mode in 'datalog' during an auto tune run. You'll see the areas you're not hitting and can adjust your riding to fill as many as you can.

Never start an auto tune run unless the bike is fully warmed up; when you've completed a run use the kill switch to keep the electrics hot. From there stop the run, save it to custom tunes, then apply it, before shutting down the ignition. If you've got one of those new-fangled deals with a FOB leave the bike running and stop the auto tune run and save it to custom tunes.

Keep building on your latest auto tune run; the Fuel Moto map is the original, your latest run is the map you want to do the next auto tune run on.

Note, the bike will run for absolute crap during an auto tune run; perfectly normal; but when you apply your latest run you'll be very pleased

It will take a few runs; the PV can't do wholesale changes at once. You may find as I did running the BSS's you'll still need to tweak the decel fueling and the decel V/E's in quick tune to fully remove the decel pop and burble.

Heh

As was mine, until I finally broke down and bought this '13; my first EFI HD. I still would rather tweak a carb any day, but throw enough money at a problem, and you can get these EFI Harley's to run rather well.

I'd still like to see HD release a limited edition Wide Glide; carb, kicker, and a proper ducktail rear fender

Want me to buy a new bike HD? That's how...

Absolutely. Once you've got the tools (and knowledge), it's easier to get EFI to run good than a carb. IMO. Especially when you start getting into the non-stock or unusual parts combination arenas.

You're absolutely right. There was one hell of a learning curve with the Power Vision and the HD EFI; I was used to doing it with my sport/track bikes but to get this Wide Glide right was much more complicated. I'm very happy with the bike and won't ever sell her; the difference between off the dealer's floor and now is a night and day difference but it was a broken trail getting here; and I want cams and head work now so the game begins again

I'd still rather play with a carb on an HD, though

I have the PV and ordered the Fuel Moto air cleaner as well last year for my fat bob.

All it had were the screaming eagle slip ons prior.

The map they sent me was amazing. No decel pop at all. Bike runs smoother, cooler. I also have gotten as high as 54 mpg but tend to average 44 mpg with how I ride.

Brother just bought an Iron (today) - I told him the ONLY place to buy is Fuel Moto and I suspect there will be a good 4 figure purchase made by him there tomorrow.
