Default identify this mystery wire

Got my battery and tray out to deal with the giant cluster F of wiring from the PO of my bike. Anyone have thoughts on this long BLACK wire coming out of the sheathing along with the RED and the ORANGE/WHITE. It has a ring terminal and is about a foot long. Not connected to anything though. The RED goes to the grey connector and the ORANGE/WHITE looks like it goes to the fuses (ACCY i believe) according to the manual. If you look closely all 3 of those have been cut and spliced. Total mess in there. Guessing the ring terminal is a ground but looking for advice.

Every one of those wires look like something the PO hacked together. You'll never see a factory wire with a splice and heat shrink. Any aftermarket lights? Anything not working? Black with the ring is probably a ground, but it could be anything...

Orange with the white tracer is a light feed on my bike. Red would be to power, and black is a ground.
I agree with Mchad that that is or was a light circuit.

Well thats the strange thing. Everything is working nicely. I just don't like rogue wires hanging around as im sure nobody does. Ill probably end up wrapping it up and tucking it away for now. Either that or just hook it to an existing ground under the seat.

Where does the other end of that harness go to? I would unplug that grey (Red wire) connector and see what doesn't work.

And one more thing, that should be switched power. It'll be dead til you turn the key on.

The connectors, pinouts, and wire color codes are in my service manual. There is also an electrical manual, but Ive never looked at one.

What year/model are you working on?

Honestly, that doesn't look too bad to me. It's probably soldered and they used shrink tube and similar-to-stock colors. I've seen WAAY worse. Twisted bundles with no solder and a couple wraps od MASKING tape with all wires of the same gauge and color...thruout a whole car... Nightmare.

Its an 06 lowrider. Only thing i could trace it down with was the orang/white that goes to the accy fuse.

Do the three wires terminate (visibly) at a connector or do they disappear into a harness branch?
