I can see the sense in Tbars but I'm a behemoth of a man and its not just the height of the apes but also the width. I have found 16inches rise from the trees and 33inches wide is my perfect number.
I also like my bars tilted forward a bit so that rules out most fixed T-bars.
I did the opposite, I went from 6 inch to bars to 12 inch apes and going up to 14 next week.
I feel more comfortable with apes. The over all control feels the same to me.
