Default Well it finally happened

After 5 years and 50000 miles of riding an old man decided it was time to run into me. I'm ok. I was stopped at a light and he hit the back of the bike causing me to drop it. Damage is minimal but will most likely not be fixed before bike week. I spent over 3 hours on the bike yesterday morning getting ready for bike week and decided to take it out for a quick errand. Ugh

Probably best the bike takes the worst of it. Still pretty depressing. people need to drive now and Facebook later.

Chop off the damaged section of fender and go to Bike Week amyway. If anybody asks, just tell them your story. Nothing cooler than the adapt & overcome.

I'm sure I would have let the old guy off the hook too but my inner demon would have been like, "Old man, you better try again and run me all the way over or else I'm coming off the top rope on your ***!!!"

Well, damn! So glad you're OK A bike is fixable, the rider, not as much.

Now, I'm not trying to bag on you whatsoever, just trying for more clarification on how this happened to you. Were you aware the driver was approaching you? Until there are a few cars behind my I'm staring intently in my mirrors watching them; I also turn around and give them the 'glare' if they get even remotely too close; they don't seem to like someone watching their antics

Were you in gear? Would it have been possible for you to jump forward had you realized he was about to contact you? I'm always positioned to either the left or the right in the lane so I can shoot forward between the cars ahead of me or further in to the intersection if necessary.

As I said, no attempt at a Monday morning quarterback here at all, I'm always trying to learn more when it comes to motorcycling, and what happened to you is something we can all learn from...

Ł*€# the bike. Glad you are good, you walked away from it and honestly... this may have been the harbinger of a larger bike week incident.

Fleece the old guy for your repairs and hug your loved ones

I'm glad you asked, as i always watch people in my mirrors coming up behind me and have a plan of escape. I also recently installed custom dynamics triple play and converted my turn signals to run/brake/turns that all flash when braking, i did all this to try to up safety.

This guy was actually already stopped behind me, about 15 feet. After his vehicle and the one behind him came to a stop, i popped the bike in neutral and relaxed waiting on the light to change. I don't know how exactly but he let his foot off the brake (which of course in an automatic will start moving) and we were on a slight decline which didn't help. I guess he didn't realize he was moving until he banged into me.

Looking back I could have paid more attention and maybe i would have caught him moving in time, but i was just kinda relaxing enjoying the sun after we were all stopped lol
