Tuesday is my day off (although I had to go to a dumb meeting about advertising this morning and didn't get home until around 2...), so the garage beckoned... Pretty much just little stuff left. I installed a Bunk King shift linkage, which I'll have to get some nicer hardware for:
Then the tank went back on. The quick release valve in the crossover makes this so simple. I never drained fuel or anything.
Time for the air cleaner...
...And finally the bike is off the lift, all put together! Mental checklist: Fresh oil and filter; plugs gapped and installed; SE Selectable Ignition set to the "safe" curve recommended by Andy Simon prior to dyno tuning... After oil was in but before plugs, I cranked the engine for a moment... No bad noises...
Thanks, I will check them out... I shoulda got stuff first, it just slipped my mind... I will be visiting the dyno in about a thousand miles, but will do some seat-of-the-pants stuff soon if it seems needed...
Right now I'm in the middle of the first round of heat cycles... I must say, I'm actually (pleasantly) shocked that I haven't detected a leak or a bad sound... I hope I didn't just jinx anything...
You should be able to limp along for a while with jist a tweak to the idle air pilot but I'd expect the accel. pump nozzle and main jet to be a fair bit too lean. Maybe bump up the needle a notch or two.
Thanks, I will keep that in mind. Maybe on Sunday I'll mess with the carb a little... It was setup on a dyno for the original build years ago, which was 95" with some headwork, Andrews TW60 cams, and Cycle Shack M pipes... It may not be THAT far off... I'll know better when I ride it. I was hoping to get the first 50 miles + oil change in tonight, but I still have another heat cycle to go... Unfortunately, it may sit until Sunday. It's like having a full Christmas stocking hanging next to your bed for a week that you can't open!

I would expect that the jetting and timing to not be too far off.. IIRC you had a 95 TW60 at something like 10.8 and you went to a 97 at 10.5 with 585s.. I assume that most of this was to fix the oil issue.. Do you think you'll make much more power?
