The lifters are properly installed, along with the blocks. Nothing else is actually installed. I just thought it was easier to shorten the rods and drop them in from the top than to feed them up later, but I suppose it's the same either way... Ignore the fact that they're sitting there, I was never planning on installing the rockers in a "loaded" scenario! I was simply curious as to whether the lifters would lose oil while sitting upright for several days, with no oil pressure to pump them back up. I realize I wasn't clear asking my question, and that it didn't really make sense in the first place... It's since clicked with me that they won't bleed down if there is no pressure being exerted on them...

Let's just rewind the last few exchanges, and pretend I never asked! All is good!

Even with No Oil, the lifters would default and be held at the Extended position because the internal spring.

Awesome, thanks Multi!

I hereby declare all discussion regarding my lifters to be a dead horse!

I pretty much finished yesterday, although I haven't started it yet...

Finding TDC was pretty easy, I used a wood kebab skewer in the spark plug hole, and watched the tops of the pushrods to make sure I was on the compression stroke (which of course meant both lifters were on the base circle).

Next came the rockers and breathers...

My pushrod tubes are 24 TPI, with 4 flats per turn. I lengthened each one by 13 flats, which should equal preload of 0.1355" (thanks Max and Multi!).

And... FINALLY the long block itself is all buttoned up!

A little bit of added bling comes from Alloy Boltz... I got one of there super-nice sets of polished stainless ARP hardware for all of the external engine stuff... They really do a nice job putting these sets together!

Intake manifold in place... My builder opened this up a little bit, and did some port matching.

Mikuni...

...And the pipe, breather assembly, and throttle cables. Now it looks like a motorcycle again!

Once it looked like this, my plan was to install the tank and try starting the engine, but I thought better of it. It was 9pm, I hadn't eaten yet, the shift linkage is apart, the tank isn't on, there's no oil in the bike, the filter still needs to be changed, I need to mess with the top motor mount... And then the initial break-in procedure would start. As much as I wanted to keeping moving forward, I decided to wait until Tuesday when I'm off in the afternoon. It seemed smarter to start earlier in the day and recap things in my head to make sure I didn't forget something stupid...
