Default o2 sensor question

I recently purchased a set of V&H Short Shots second hand and didn't realize they only work with 12mm sensors. Since I'm on an 09 and have the 18mm I'm wondering if I can purchase 2012 or newer replacement sensors? Anyone know if the male/female end is the same from 09 to current? I would just plug the sensor hole but the FP3 won't let me auto tune without the sensors installed.

I can already see this was a pricey mistake

You could go to something like the TFI from Dobeck and just eliminate them.

Just need to ensure the sensors still screw into pipe deep enough to sample properly - which they should

No I have 18mm sensors. The holes on the new pipes are 12mm. The stock sensors are 6mm too big.

If you wanted to eliminate them by using TFI you can just plug the holes.

No you can't run the newer style o2 sensors. You got the wrong year pipes.

What you can do is have new bungs welded in. If it was the reverse problem they make adapters for the smaller o2 sensors in the pipe but not the other way around

You can run the newer o2 sensors, but it's a pain in the *** and not cheap. This involves grafting the old connectors to new sensors and eliminating the heater circuit. I have a set of Switchback V&H Monster Duals on my '06 FXDL and used the information in this post to do it. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...n-my-fxdc.html. 12mm Harley/Delphi o2 sensors use a black signal, gray ground, and purple & white for the heater. My 18mm sensors used gray for signal and blue for ground. Easy enough to test using a voltmeter and a propane torch.

OP, if you want to attempt this you will need 32700005 and 32700006 HD o2 sensors and 2 Bosch 15725 o2 sensors. You will only be using the Bosch smartlink connectors from the kit and throwing the rest out. You could try butt style crimp connectors to save some money, but I'm not 100% sure that will work reliably.

Is there any way to drill and tap the holes out to the larger size?

Lot easier to install plugs in the 12MM..., then drill new holes for 18MM bungs and weld them in

If OP can't weld - find a welder - it easy / and should be a quick / inexpensive job (assuming holes are pre-drilled)
