Default Daymakers on 2011 uk FXDF

I've been given a set of day makers as a present Yay! I have an international model fat bob not so yay!
Any ideas on how to fit them, this will involve doing the hack to get both stock headlights to come on at the same tIme etc...

If they are Harley OEM Daymakers, they should be plug in and ride.

Hmmm..... I don't think that's correct. There is a difference in the International wiring harness if I recall correctly.

PM me and I can probably help you out. But - and I did this a few years ago....

There is a connector for the headlight wiring that is in the the frame backbone. Trace the headlight wiring back into the frame, pull out the grommet where it goes in and gently wiggle that bit of the loom out to expose the connector.

Then you need to simply unplug that and plug in the US connector and loom to the headlights. If your lights came with that, then you are in luck. If not you will need to google the correct part number for that wiring harness and get one of those.

Try here: http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.....asp?make=hdmc

Yep I stand corrected, Harley say this about the daymakers.

These headlamps are not compliant on International models. We currently do not have any for International applications.

Easy mistake to make!

I think the actual headlamps themselves ARE compliant on International models, and the only difference is the wiring loom that goes from the headlight shell (and plugs into the lamps themselves) and the connector in the backbone. The main wiring loom is the same for all bikes apart from that.

Having said that, I have a US headlight shell with the US headlight loom on my UK bike thanks to the kindness of someone on this forum who swapped their dual FatBob lamps for a single. Both lights work as dip or main and it's fully UK legal. I have also experimented with cheap knock-off daymaker clones (which plugged straight in to the US shell) but wasn't happy with the results and went back to stock halogens but with better quality bulbs. There was some grinding involved on the back of the cheap knock-offs and the light throw pattern was rubbish.

I also tried several Xenon HID versions, but couldn't find a setup where the ballasts and associated wiring actually fit well into the small FatBob headlamp shell.

Anyway - Jmurf, I can probably help you with what you need to do. Failing that, if you want to sell the US daymakers for a good price, I may be interested....they are WAY overpriced new.

Thanks for that I'll be getting the hammers out at the weekend to see what's what. They're not OEM but think the problem remains with the wiring loom on us v uk spec. Once I get a look at it I'll post back and if it's just a wiring loom I need I'll source one. I know there is a mob online from Australia that do their version of plug and play daymakers international spec but they're still Ł400 once the imports sorted. If not I'll politely not tell my misses they don't fit and slide them on to eBay! Lol
