I am installing the Billet headlamp shell. I have the seat and tank off and the next step is to unplug the headlamp from the wiring harness. Where the heck does that thing unplug? I see it runs through the frame and that's about it. I took out the battery to get a better look but can't find it anywhere. I have pulled on the wire up by the headlight and can not see any movement anywhere. I really do not want to splice any wires if I don't have to. Any help would be appreciated.
there should be a plug just a couple of inches into the frame that you unplug...I thought you could usually pull it out enough to unplug it....if not,
you may need to pull out the wiring that's in the backbone of the frame (in front of the rear wheel...there's an extra loop of wiring harness there usually) and then push it forward through the frame until you can get at the plug.
I tried pulling it out of the frame, but if there is a plug there it is too far in to unplug. I will have to try getting the wires from the back to come up the frame some and see if there is a plug. I will try that tomorrow.
I tried that too as I JUST changed my headlight today. I never could find the plug anywhere. I also wanted to de-pin the original harness and use the plug on the new light but It was a no go and after a bit I decided to do a splice. Igot some 1/2" Black heat shrink tubingand slid it over where I was going to splice. Did the mechanical spiles w/ 20 gauge splices - installed envioronmental shields over the splices and then slid the heat shrink tubing over the splice/harness. You can't tell the difference from the original harness except its a tad larger. I did notice that my Light had a Red and Yellow wire coming off it. The bike has yellow- Black- White wires. The Black is a ground and wasnt used. When I re-wired it I went Yellow - Yellow , Red - Black and It was Backwards. High Beam was on when the switch wasin Low.Hope you find that pesky Plug!
I went out this morning to look and I can see the plug down in the frame about 4 inches. I will have to work some of the wiring up from the back because it will not pull out. Thanks for the help.
