Looking for a bit of help here. During the install of my fairing i had to remount my headlight further up and out. I did that and installed my fairing. Went to check and make sure everything was working properly and had no headlight. The indicators on the dash function but the bulb is not burning. I'm thinking i pulled the connector apart in the frame. Whats the best way to find and inspect the Wiring Harness for the headlight - everything else is working fine.
Just how hard did you yank on that wire! Well, chase the wire coming out of the bottom/back of the bucket, if it is like mine that wire goes through that rubber plug on the right side of the frame neck.
You can pull off that rubber thing and pull out your connection (do not pull out but the bare minimum required), check your plug.
Or maybe it's in the bucket where the trouble is. Maybe the bulb, check your fuses.
Start with telling us a little about your ride and then check the bulb...you could have trashed the element with all that jerking and banging around.
Before the relocation i disassembled the unit as to not mess anything up. Its a 2010 SBOB. As i slowly and what i thought was carefully tried to pull some slack in the wire out of the frame. I'm not sure if i heard a click of the harness disconnecting or not due to me having music on. but there is plenty of slack in it now which makes me think i disconnected the harness. I re installed the housing and element and tried testing it and no joy.
check for voltage at the bulb plug.. it's also very possible that the contacts in the bulb harness pushed out the back of the harness when you tried to plug the bulb in..
Got it figured out - Removed the tank and had a look at the wiring harness. Apparently the previous owner had some work done and the harness had been tangled. As a result when i fed more wire out it disconnected. With help from a friend (who is a harley tech) i was able to resolve my issue.
