Thank you for all the replies. The battery is less the 3 months old never any issues. The starter is good. When I hit the start button it's obvious the breaker trips all electric power is gone. Lights, gauges and after a minute or two it resets itself. So I'm assuming I have a short/ground somewhere.
It may cost but I think you can download a shop manual with electrical diagrams
Also use this search term in google "ask a harley mechanic"
There some online bike mechanics.....never used them myself but I know others have
Have you inspected the main chassis ground yet? not the battery post ground, but the place where the negative side of the battery connects to chassis ground
More than likely electrical here, but thought might add if anything on the Engine is Binding that the Starter can't turn freely, your Breaker Will Trip Very Quickly ..

Do not automatically eliminate the battery from the equation just because it is new. I went through this exact same scenario last year with a 4 month-old HD battery.
Like you, I assumed it was not the new battery and tore into the system twice trying to find and fix the problem only to have it work correctly when I put it all back together. I kept thinking I had an intermittent connection and kept digging in trying to locate it. After the third time it failed, I just went back to the dealer and got a new battery under warranty and have not had a problem since.
I know a lot about automotive charging systems and this had me baffled and looking for gremlins and long-shot causes without success for weeks. It just kept coming down to a bad battery even though it was new from my local dealer who promptly replaced it.
As far as the battery, yes it could be a bad but new battery BUT
have you used a voltmeter to check battery voltage yet?
With the motor off the battery should be at least 12.6 volts.
If not trickle charge (recommend "BATTERY TENDER" brand, I have a 5 amp model, smaller ones are just as good just slower if battery is dead) . But for trickle charge, the smaller ones are great too.
Have you checked the charging system?
With the motor running, voltage reading at the battery should be about 13.2 - 14 volts....
