What's your thoughts on the seat so far?

I took mine up the canyons here in CO last weekend, was on it for about 2 hours straight and the rear end was not thrilled after. Been spending hours looking for a comfy seat that looks great too. I am really liking the Lucky Dave's.

I'm happy with it but my longest ride so far has been just an hour. If my butt ever starts to hurt I'll change the seat in a heartbeat.

Does it use any special foam or gel? I just looked at the site and it doesn't appear to indicate.

Have you had heat issues?

"stay with a 600 sportbike" that's funny right there!

I mean the bike gets pretty hot when its 90 plus degrees and I sit in traffic. I had a 2010 Fat Boy Lo with a 96" that seemed just as hot in traffic. I really try and ride it when I can avoid traffic. I have a liquid cooled Ultra as well, so I ride that when its super hot outside and I know I may be in traffic.

Had to throw that little jab at the sport bikes in there for fun

Lmao **** SPORTBIKES!!! Cmon were all thinkin it. Now that that's out of the way, not many people know just how hot their bikes get. I only know because of the power vision but I honestly don't know how accurate it is. I had a Fxdb with a 103 and never realized I was overheating it until the 2nd season I owned it. You can definitely tell the difference when it's running too hot between the leg roast, and the response when you're heated up and trying to take off from a stop. The bike just doesn't feel like it has the same power as when it's cool. You can tell it doesn't like stop and go traffic. I did notice a significant difference between that, and the lrs factory 110. I didn't notice much of a difference between the 110 and the 117 except the 117 seems to heat up within a few minutes of stop & go traffic, or riding low speed like a residential neighborhood. Now that I am aware of the heat issue I make sure my pv is mounted anytime I ride. Once I get the heat issue under control I'll take it off again.

Hmm... I have a PV for my Ultra, haven't really considered hooking it up to monitor temps. Wonder if it'll read them without an additional license. Not really sure its worth the additional license cost of 200 just to read gauges. My bike already has the screamin eagle tuner on it.

Out of curiosity, how do you plan on addressing the heat issue?

you ou shouldn't need a license for it. The pv should do everything except tune on as many bikes as you want. As far as addressing the heat, I will soon be having the bike dyno tuned, venting the crankcase to atmosphere, adding a jagg 10 row low mount fan assisted oil cooler, then if absolutely necessary, I will add cooling fans. But I absolutely hate the look of love hugs so I'm hoping with everything else that it won't be necessary. I honestly don't think it will be. Once I start doing the cooking modifications, I'll post what temperatures I'm currently operating at, and what my temperatures drop to after each modification.

Just to clarify, when I vent to atmosphere, I don't want to have oil coat the side of my bike, so I will be running an oil catch can. I like the mods to look factory, so I will mount the can on the left side of the engine where the horn goes on a Fxdb, then I will fab a bracket to hold it, and accept a gloss black horn cover I have sitting in the garage. The ac will be tapped closer to the center so the fittings aren't visible, then I'll run lines over the top of the throttle body down to the left side so nothing is really visible unless you look close. I think I'm gonna use 3/8 hard line as well. Then I'll just empty the can every time I get fuel, and go to sleep knowing my engine is happy.
