spotty problem on the Dyna
I don't really spend a lot of time keeping the bike clean, I have to admit. I realized today that I still had the wipe off marker on my fairing from when going into my parking for Coachella vendors back in mid April despite having had a couple of trips back and forth to Las Vegas (250 miles of back roads each way), and being caked in bugs.
So today I decided that since I'm going to be tearing down the bike shortly for my engine work that I would wash the bike.
Went to the little spray and wash place nearby, guy who works there comes out and tells me that if I want to get the road grime off that he'll bring me some of his soap. He was trying to help and I didn't want to be jerky so I tried his container which he said was the same stuff as in in hose and brush but more concentrated so I sprayed it on, and then rinsed it off.
As I was drying with the high powered dryer I realize that this stuff is leaving a boatload of marks and residue on the bike. I quickly grabbed the brush and tried to wipe it off and rinse to no avail. It's like this gunk just etched itself into the coating on my bars, exhaust, paint on the tank, etc. So pissed at myself.
So I boogied down to the place where I take my car every now and again and where they've done some detailing work for me and my wife. Guy was able to get in there with some stuff that he had and after over an hour of work got it fixed up pretty nicely. 5 minutes and $7 to do harm, one hour and $30 (plus $20 tip since I was so relieved and he stayed late), to fix my stupidity.
Sometimes I'm my own worst enemy, and all I was trying to do was drain my tank a bit and get the bike clean for tear down!

I'm sure the 2017 Harley Davidson Street Bob, also in black, is gonna need it as much as, or more than, the car.

(or something similar, look up ChemicalGuys) gets the bugs off effortlessly.
