I have a 2006 FXDI on which I have added some bars from a Street Bob. I would like to find a detachable windshield for some extended length rides. Will my handlebar mounted speedo prevent me from adding a windshield? It seems most of the windshields I have seen seem to follow the angle of the front forks. I just don't see how it can be mounted with the bar mounted speedo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You might try going to the dealer on a Saturday when there's a lot of customers there on their bikes. Find some Dynas that have windshields on them and take some measurements. (with the owners permission of course.) You might even find someone with a quick release windshield that will let you try it out.
I think the shield was a little taller than I like. I'm 5'7" and could see over it. For the type of shield it is I think it will be a good height for you. I bought mine used on ebay. I would buy it again. It has some adjustability on the forks ( vertical) and foward/ back from the mounting bolts. For a little extra protection I bought a Clearview shield to put on the HD mount. I wouldnt bother with that again.
I could take it off in a minute if I chose but never do, I don't mind the looks. See the the pic without the mook rider to see the hardware
