I love a good project. Looks like you have a good candidate! I would have fun with that one - lots to do!

By the looks of it, I'd start by taking it completely apart, down to the frame, while carefully inspecting/cataloging/labeling all the parts.

Then I would start with the frame. Ugh!

Cool. I just wondered if it was a sentimental bike or something. Sounds like it's just a good budget project. Nothing wrong with that!

Engine out

The moment i pulled the trigger on the media blaster it blasted through the chrome. What it left was the pitted shell of a rocker box. Because of all the corrosion I had to blast all the chrome off the rocker boxes as supposed to just scratching it so the paint would adhere. Didnt take much photos of if but u get the gist.

Engine covers, cylinders and heads blasted. Because of the pits and the budget, i went with VHT wrinkle on the covers, Duplicolor ceramic semigloss for the cylinders. Ill take more pics of it when i get home.

Wheels were also blasted, primed with filler primer and painted with VHT Chassis and Rollbar paint.

Pits on the wheels from the surface rust. I was toying with the idea of buying new spokes but they actually werent that bad.

It might be overkill on the wheels but ive always liked the look of fat spokes. Fat daddies arent in the budget whatsoever so glossy black spoke covers will do.

Fat spokes installed. Stainless button heads for brake side.

Grade 8 Zinc with stainless washers for the sprocket side. Tire will be bumped up 10mm to a shinko 140. Found front and back on ebay for 155$. Chyeeeeeah!!

So i was interested to see what was under the layers of spraypaint..
Nice! Almost dont wanna get it painted..spoke to my buddy he just told me I have free range to do whatever.

Update: New fork stanchion tubes installed with some poly riser bushings. 10" pull backs from my sporty blasted and installed. Frame wire wheeled and 2 part epoxy added before a little sanding and then I hit it up with thick coats of VHT Chassis and Rollbar. Let it sit for a week and a half.
