Hey all! Figured I'd post up in here and create a *sort of* build thread. Not new to motorcycles, but it is my first Harley. It is a 96 Dyna convertible with 33k on the clock. So far I'm loving it but have already found some things I will be changing. Wanting new bars to have my hands a bit higher and straight across rather than angled back, I will be doing new suspension all around as I will be riding with my soon to be wife and I also tend to ride my bikes rather aggressively. Lastly, I will be switching from forward controls to mid controls. I just do not feel comfortable or confident with them. (If anybody has an old set of mid controls they would like to sell or trade let me know!) I hope to learn a lot from this forum as I'm with this bike for the long haul! See you all out there
How do those pipe sound? Looks like they could be upgraded as well
Thank you! And yes I didn't catch that I didn't have exhaust on my list. Honestly they are scratched up but work fine, they are just obnoxiously loud. I'm always for a nice sounding exhaust, but these are just too much, might as well be straight piped. They are Vance and Hines slip ons, I'm debating on going with different slip ons, or a full exhaust. Just undecided at the moment
Might want to think seat too, unless it's really comfortable.. Looks good though! Happy riding..
Oh yeah... Go LED lights too.. Huge difference in night riding and being seen.
Show your progress...
Cheers
Derek, it seems it won't let me respond or let me send you a message. Shoot me a text or email when convenient. Interested in trade. 401-578-3103 or jsirois1990@gmail.com
Nice scoot bro. Looks basically immaculate. How many miles? Enjoy and ride safe! (oops missed the 33k in your original post - pretty low miles for a 20 YO scoot)
That bike has it all. Love the dual disks in front. I like some pipes with baffles to build up enough backpressure. Looks like you can get away with slipons. Those shocks are gems too. Is that an S&S carb behind the air cleaner?
One suggestion - you can add mid pegs and have fw controls and mid pegs for all scenarios. I got used to forwards up to the 150 mile mark or so then it's back to mids. But with the ability to alternate, makes it much more versatile.

Thanks! Ya I didn't think the mileage was bad. I like a bike that's ridden. Will be doing a full go through over the winter but she purrs like an angry kitten
