Strange Issue 2012 Wide Glide
Some things i've tried;
- checking the battery terminals
- updating FP3 firmware and flashing from my Auto-Tune map back to a Vance and Hines map.
NOTE: The battery is only a couple months old and has been fine, though i did experience a power loss in the past that was seemingly due to a loose negative battery terminal. Not the case this time!
Harley Wide Glide 2012
- Joker Machine air filter
- Remus slip-ons
- Vance & Hines FP3 fuel tuner
The only thing i've done differently in the last week that i can think is that i used some Motul fuel cleaner when i filled up.
Any suggestions?
EDIT, ISSSUE SOLVED:
Ok, so it looks like i've solved the problem... y'all are probably gonna laugh at what a rookie moment this is. The negative battery terminal seemed to be the culprit all along.
I had previously checked the cable before and it was fine, but decided to have another look at the battery today, and the metal plate screwed down on top of the battery was slightly loose (never noticed before) but the cable screw itself was nice and snug. So i whipped the battery out, tightened the plate down, i noticed the voltage reading on FP3 shoot up by .6 Took her for a test ride through a few speed ranges and not a single hitch!

But, maybe the throttle body is filthy behind the air cleaner. Lubricate you cables maybe.
My sporter started doing that and it turn out that my cables were ready to go. Lube helped but the idle cable eventually snapped.

I'll give the cables a blast of wd40 and hope for the best in the mean time..
heres a link to a xref sheet so you can get some local plugs to test.

your local auto parts store should have one of the plugs listed on the cross reference sheet above... look at thev 6R12 row.

If the throttle is not returning to the closed position the grip may be too tight against the switch controls. Try moving it out a tiny bit.
If it's not a cable or mechanical problem you should try cleaning your IAC. And not with WD40, it's not a miracle product, just a water dispersant. Use throttle body or MAF cleaner.

The throttle is returning to the closed posisition no problems, i'll give the IAC cleaning a go - that sounds like a promising idea, is there any particular product(s) you'd reccomend for that?
