Default Neutral hard to find?

2017 FXDLS here. Thunderheader with Powervision. Here's the issue. After riding around a bit and engine is nice and hot, when stopped at a light or just stopping period the bike will not want to shift in neutral. Sometimes, I'll have to turn her off to get into neutral. Thoughts?

The number one reason for difficulty in finding neutral is dragging clutch plates.

Adjusting both the clutch pack and the clutch cable freeplay would be the very first place to start...

How many miles? Check the fluid levels and adjust the clutch and clutch cable. Make sure you do it with the bike cold. Let us know what happens.

Yep, start with the clutch cable. If its not fully engaging neutral is hard to find. Had it happen on mine after it was broken in.

Every Harley I've ever owned with the exception of my 98 DWG and my current FXDB has the problem. Not sure why the SB doesnt have any issues but, this bike pops right into neutral 99% of the time. I've found the type of fluid used has an influence.

I have the same problem with my FXDB and have found a solution. By giving a small amount if throttle it's easier to click it from 1st into neutral. Give it a try

Mine is doing the same thing right now, but the clutch is obviously dragging. It only does it when hot though, so I've been dragging my feet on adjusting it.

Clutch and clutch cable... and yes, your choice of fluids in the primary and tranny will affect it as well. I run the same oil in my primary as engine, synthetic 20/50, and I run a synthetic/blend at 75/90 or full synthetic 75/140in the transmission (depending on season/temp).

Never have an issue finding neutral, hot or cold.
