I have the new Street Bob and I owned and rode I won't call them "dynas" cause I don't think they were called that back at the Shovel and EVO engine days just Super Glide and Wideys and the new stuff became rubber glides to us, and yea I can ride a mates "dyna" of any type any time I want and the shop "dyna" for the week end now and then. Owned a 2006 Super Glide Custom for 3 weeks went back to a cranky old EVO as fast as I could so yea I know them.
I miss going down to the local HD shop and there's no new model Twin Shock HD's cruisers there call them whatever you like,don't get me wrong the 18 is better in every way much better no contest not even close and looks are subjective. Not getting in to the Twin Shock V Softy thing,or the Twinky V Evo thing or any of that **** apples to apples a HD is a HD
For me something is now missing,the line up is incomplete, there's a hole in my love for Harleys ,Harley have made a mistake I think. No true Harley lifer can say different,to me,there's Harley people and there's people with Harleys don't give a rats which one you think you are because for me there's hole in my lifer Harley heart where a current model twin shock cruiser should be if just to look at and admire in the shop line up..
Don't get me wrong I don't buy them but yea somethings gone.

i am personally blown away by people willing to go out and buy a 17 while the 18 are running around and citing looks as the reason..... but, i get that it's their choice and not everyone thinks/operates like me. I'm not buying one new so i'm just watching the carnage and studying. The conclusion I've temporarily rested on is that there are so many significant positive changes that, for the same money, it make absolutely no damn logical sense to buy a new 17. Absolutely none. (Read all before flipping out)
On the flip side... i get wanting, fixation, beliefs, goals, etc... that may be tinting the lenses folks are looking through. Like i said before with the car example, i get it.... and motorcycles aren't exactly a logical/best actual bike arena anyway. If we used logic/best actual only, nobodu would buy or rebuild shovels and other old bikes (not just hd). But, not to many are spending $15k on shovels and crap-fey racers at dealers they a building them probably totalling more than $15k.
people like what they like. S&M, hot wax, vintage dining ware, hot air ballooning... other seemingly wacky stuff. For me, brand new, 17 vs 18, 18 no Brainer. If i was fixed on dyna... a street bob specifically, 17 wouldn't even be a consideration unless the price was better than all the other 103 street bobs... there have been no real changes since the 103. It never got the 103HO. Id hunt down $6-9k a cream puff deal and refresh or upgrade the engine and mod to taste. Why waste $ on dealer fees, bullsh**, and ego? Again, thats me.

this is what I'm saying stop doing. Bad enough you think, for some reason, stage 1 isnt a go fast mod and not listening to an owner of the bike you hate becaise it's better is saying to you. You turn around and insult the man. You gotta chill on that. Not cool

So you have never modified a HD to go faster , yea fu(kin sure you haven't , every HD I've owned but this one has been modified and so will this one , every HD I've ever seen has been modded to go faster , handle better make more power stop better.
