I love the look of a spoked wheel. It was actually a big part of my model decision.

I agree that mags do have the ease of maintenance, cleaning, durability in there favor. I am somewhat surprised that Harley hasn't come out with a tubeless version of the spoked wheel. Is this common among other brands? I know that mountian bikes have offered tubeless wheels, spoked of course, for years now.

I like the look of spokes but I bought my Superglide used and it came with the mags.
I have gotten used to them and may just chrome them in a couple years. That will make them shine! [sm=shades.gif]

I hate my spokes on the rear. They are a pain to clean and on the dyna they are covered up anyway so you barely see them. For my bob, I do like how the rear wheel looks without the belt guard and debris deflector installed and would run like that if I didn't think a passenger's foot might slip off their foot peg and onto the spinning belt.

No matter how hard you scrub, a mag wheel will never do this:

When I made the deal on my Super Glide Custom I told the Dealer I loved everything about the bike except the spokes. He looked over at a nearby Lowrider and said, "Lets switch the wheels from that Lowrider... they arethe samesize tires...and we will absorb the labor costs" We did it and I love the look.
How about you guys - What do you perfer?

I feel like the mags are stronger although I really don't know. I don't have to worry about intertubes.. and I don't have to deal with cleaning them or tightening spokes.

Spoked rims were one of the many features that drew me to the Bob. I really dislike the look of Harley's mag rims. They remind me of my step-dad's '84 Suzuki......Fugly.

Spokes or custom chrome rims, that's my preference. Aluminum mags just don't look right on a Harley.

Spokes look great and are the way to go if you don't ride a lot of miles.

Cast is better if ride a lot due to the reasons already stated; easy cleaning, no maintenance, safer, and ability to plug if you are out in the middle of no where on a Sunday.

I have spokes and ride lots of miles. The last thing on my mind while I'm out riding is if I am going to get a flat tire. If I do, then so be it. I wouldn't buy wheels I don't like just so I can plug a tire.

Spokes are great till a wheel starts coming apart on you while on the road. After having it happen to me twice, I got rid of the spokes on the rear.

All of you guys talking about the beauty of spokes, must have either relaced your wheels or be riding '04/'05 bikes or newer. HD used cadmium plated spokes for decades. They turned a crappy looking battleship gray in about 6 months.
