When I made the deal on my Super Glide Custom I told the Dealer I loved everything about the bike except the spokes. He looked over at a nearby Lowrider and said, "Lets switch the wheels from that Lowrider... they arethe samesize tires...and we will absorb the labor costs" We did it and I love the look.
How about you guys - What do you perfer?
I feel like the mags are stronger although I really don't know. I don't have to worry about intertubes.. and I don't have to deal with cleaning them or tightening spokes.
To each his own............To me, Nothing says class and HD tradition like a spoked wheel. No mag can twinkle and flash in the sun as it rolls like a spoke wheel can. The look of the spoke is worth the effort to clean and the tube thing i will live with.
I also have spokes on my bike. It's a classic look and that is what I am after. I will say that the new mag wheels they are putting on look decent, but as a matter of personal taste, I'll keep the spokes. One of the best things that Harley did in 2005 was make the spokes chromeas before that (at least 2004) only the rim was chromed.
One of the reasons I bought my Dyna Super Glide was because of the "Old School" looks (spoked wheels, round fenders and dual spring shocks out back). The mags look alright and are easier to maintain (cleaning, tubless tire, ect), but IMO nothing says "Old School" like spoked wheels.
