When I made the deal on my Super Glide Custom I told the Dealer I loved everything about the bike except the spokes. He looked over at a nearby Lowrider and said, "Lets switch the wheels from that Lowrider... they arethe samesize tires...and we will absorb the labor costs" We did it and I love the look.
I bet he was willing to absorb the labor costs as his actual shop cost to do the exchange is less than $50.00 to $75.00 and the laced wheels are a $450.00 option. You're a shrewed negotiator and you just made your SG Custom into a standard Superglide. You'll have issues trying to resell it as a Custom.

This sounds like how I came about the laced wheels on my FXD. I found the color I wanted, but had to say one of the first changes I would have made was to change the stock wheels out. So happens I go from one stealer, who was selling a stock FXD for 700 over msrp, to another across the river and get the same bike with the laced wheels for 500 under msrp.
Turns out some dude bought a Bob that day and didn't like the laced wheels so the shop swapped out the wheels from my bike after they uncrated it and put it on the floor.I bought it six hours after it hit the showroom.
Mags on a Bob is like putting mustard on your cheesesteak...............yuck. [:'(]
Yeh, Yeh,
We all know that spokes, (polished stainless steel ), look great, but, the next time you are out in the Australian outback , thousands of miles from anywhere, and you get a flat (and you will), just remember that when you are laying your ride on it's side (why don't harleys have centrestands??), to repair the tyre (tire), because you HAVE TO,... or DIE .... then you will be the one with a scratched paint job and those with mags (using tubeless plugs),
will hardly get their hands dirty... so there !
