So I ended up having a local shop install a set of andrews 57h cams. I took it to the shop because he only charged me 40 dollars more that I would have paid for all my parts. Any how, after the cams were installed, I rode the bike home from the shop. When I got home I reflashed my ecu using the andrews 57h cam option with my fpk3. After doing this I started the bike and noticed a loud knocking from the primary. When the rpms drop to about 950, the primary knocks hard. I pulled the primary cover to see what was going on and everything looked good. Chain was in spec, compensator bolt was tight, clutch adjuster is tight. So I put the cover back on and added oil, and still get the knock. Never had this with my stock cams. Has anyone experienced this? Why would changing the cams make the primary knock at low rpms? There is no knock when the motor is revved and it pulls pretty hard. it almost sounds like the chain is slapping the inside of the primary cover, but as I stated, I checked it and there is no excessive slack in the primary chain. I put my hand on the primary and could feel the impact of something in there. When listening to the rocker boxes, there is no knock, it is coming from the primary....any advice is appreciated.
is it the primary? or is something happening in the cam chest and the vibes running over to the primary. auto clearance action? did "the shop" f-up the install... not change out the spacers..., clearance the lobes, add a rubber duck?

take it back and demand satisfaction.
I dont think its from the cam chest, the knock is very audible from the rear of the primary, by the clutch basket. I called the shop as soon as I got home and let him know. He said he would have to hear it to know what the issue is.....ugh.
are you sure it is not noise from reversion? have herd that the andrews 57 is known for that.
I notice a very slight noise at low rpm from my woods 222 cams but they have less overlap than the 57 does.

+1 on the reversion. It was so bad with my 57s I had to take the open AC off & put the stocker back on. Sounds like someone tapping on a wooden drum.
OP... listen around the air cleaner & see if maybe that's the source.

I think this is the issue. I took the bike back to him today, he listened to it with a stehiscope and said it sounded like the compensator kicking at low rpms.....time for a baker?
