I am about to order some Ohlins and were debating legnth. I am running a thunderheader, and my bike is an 06 superglide. I am questioning whether I would run into any fitment issues with that legnth. I have 13 inch air shocks on it now and no issues other than I hate the shocks. Any advice
I'm not sure what interferes. If it's the lower spring perch, I know my Ohlins 773 are smaller outside diameter than the 99 stockers with chrome spring cups were.
Seems like it would be easy enough to simulate. Just take off the upper mounting hardware and adjust the swingarm to 13.25" mount to mount and see if anything hits.
I had shorter shocks on my FXD for 1 single day. I had to grind material off of the upper drive belt guard as it hit whenthe shocks were installed. Sold 'em the next day, and went back to the stockers.
So, I have the the HD220's from Ohlins, I believe they are 13 3/8", can't speak to the thunderheader, but I had clearance issues with the mounting bracket of my old bassani rubbing the swingarm when on the kickstand, and now with the new supertrapp I'm having a clearance issue with the muffler resting against the axle and vibrating against it when on the stand, this is because the shop I took it to reversed the axle for ease in future tire changes when I had the tire done recently (common practice from what I've heard). No issues with the shocks themselves interfering with anything. Just my 2c...no issues while riding, like I said it seems to only be when on the kickstand.
I've got 13-3/8" Ohlins and a thunder header on my 06 Street Bob, and it's fine. The closest spot is the rear bolt on the bracket, and it's probably a 1/4" from the swingarm when it's on the kickstand. I was worried about that too haha, you'd probably be fine up to 13.5", maybe more if you cut the bolt back to be flush with the nut.

Thank you for your input. I actually ordered the 13 3/8 ones instead from Howard today
What is it about your current shocks that you hate so?
They are fat, ugly, and are super stiff as air shocks. I put them on to see if I liked the length and rode with them for a year or so. Now I want to go back to regular shocks (better shocks) and I like the fact that the Öhlins are built for my specs and that they are infinitely rebuildable
