Yeah I prolly would but I've always just plugged my laptop in and tuned away...back in 2006 I used to have a desktop CPU in my garage just for power commanders (and HP tuner on my car).

with a good tune on the dyno you will pick up a few hp and torque but the major difference is the bike won't run like **** anymore...night and day difference.

Once you've had a bike with a good tune, you'll never want to ride a stock tuned bike again.

The other day I test road the new 18' softtails and loathed it because of the tune.

So with these do you need to have it tuned by a shop or can you use one of the custom maps available on the Power Commander website? I found one listed on their site that has my exact pipes and air cleaner setup.

. Start with the map, if you don’t like the way it runs have it dynoed. I can tell you I have had my bike on the dyno 3 times, stages 1 thru 3 and every time it ran better. But an exact map to what you are running might be good. See how it runs. If it pings or decel pops get it dynoed. If I was to do it again I might go with pv but it runs great with the pc.

When I bought my 09 fatbob in Sep last year it had the SEprotuner with a map installed. I played with the auto tune and such but really never ran perfect. Had a slight part throttle cruise surge or miss? I tried a few things but I couldn't get it to go away. Yes I could of taken it to the shop for a dyno tune but I wanted it to be easy for me to use. I went with the PV from Fuel Moto. I love it. The map they sent with the PV runs great. No part throttle cruise surge and a noticeable power increase and smoothness. I also like the different gauges you can have it display if you choose to keep it on the bike. I have not done any auto tuning yet just because its winter but I am not sure I need to. It runs great.
One thing I found out was that I wasn't getting 100% throttle. I had changed out my grips and adjusted the throttle with the correct slack but I guess I didn't have it correct. Found it by pulling up the throttle position gauge on the PV. It was only getting 78% at full throttle. I was able to fixed it by twisting the throttle and looking at the gauge and got it to 100% with the correct slack.
Anyway JMO

I found one of these for $150 brand new local which peaked my interest so I think I am going to pull the trigger and see how she runs.

I like having the full workings of the ECU laid bare to me and the dyno operators.

If you intend to use a dyno, be sure to ask if they have a preference (or refuse certain interfaces). Paying for dyno time while the operator learns a new interface is crazy expensive...and showing up with something they refuse to use is even more expensive when you buy the replacement.
