Hi All,
I recently changed the bars on my 2007 FXD. I went with 12" MXT bars. I used NAMZ wiring extensions. When I got everything put together it appears that the connection for the turn signals is loose. If it wiggles the turn signal light will go out and/or not flash. I tried a bunch of things and thought I had it. But alas, now that I have the wires all stuffed up in the frame the left turn signal does not work. I'm at a loss and dont really know how to move forward. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hate to say it but I am pretty sure you already know what the solution is even though it sucks.
You have to trace that wire down. You know that it is either grounding somewhere or is loose connection. Bite the bullet and chase it down. You will be happy in the end. I had to strip my fairing back off when I did my bars after it was all back together because I routed the clutch cable wrong.
It sucks to disassemble again but sometimes necessary to fix it correctly.
Good luck and be sure to post some pics when it is all done

Thanks for that. I've already pulled it once as there was a short which was blowing the fuse. I found that. I think the problem is in the actual connector as this is where I wiggle it causing the light to malfunction. You're right I'm going to lose good I have to take these bars off, again....
You found out that a grounding short will blow the fuse so it ain't that. This looks more like an intermittent connection and it could be either ground or power. According to my diagrams, if it is an intermittent ground, it should affect both the running lights and turn signals. You know that it is intermittent, but you need to also know what works and what doesn't when you are manipulating the plug. I would check that first. You could be right about the connector but that shouldn't be too hard to verify.
Something to consider...recently I was having some ignition module problems and during the process of troubleshooting, I installed the needle jet in the carb upside down. I have done this task countless times without error so I was complacent and naively certain that the new problem caused by me, which closely mirrored the module problem, was somewhere else and not in the carb. I was starting to tear the top end down when I discovered my mistake. And, one more time, I learned the lesson to NEVER assume. Period. Check it all again, even if you are certain the problem is not there. There is no other way to be sure.
