Is there anything one can do to improve the front suspension of the FXDX? It seems everyone wants to ultimately mimic what the FXDX has (preload adjusters, cartridges, stiffer springs) but what does one do when they have a stock FXDX? Are there better quality replacement cartridges or maybe even a different 39mm sport bike front end?

Just curious what’s out there. Thanks!
what you couldn't figure this out in 5 minutes with 2 wires, a ferret, and a ball of yarn?
Another option is RaceTech gold valves / shim stack in the existing cartridges with new RaceTech springs. Springs and shim stack are specific for your weight.
Unfortunately haven't been able to ride it yet with mine installed (East Coast weather and now moving) but hope to get some seat time soon and will see if it's as big of a difference as many say.
If you call RaceTech, ask for Louie.
Best improvement of the exiting front end IMO; lighter Excell rim, Buchannan SS spokes, Lyndal composite rotors, fork brace, radial tire, re-tune.
Removing a pile of unsprung weight is an expensive but effective improvement. Sputhe mounts and swingarm as well. Tighten fallaway an extra 1/8 turn over stock.
Been there, done that and put a lot of miles on it after.
If you are up for going mid glide on the front end, the roadster wheels are super bargain at ~300 each and weight next to nothing. Gets you wider tire options (120-130 ) shaves mega weight and look hella good.
The best thing for a DX front end is springs and 5 wt oil.. HD specifies type E which is closer to 10wt. I've tried compression gold valves and they might help a little but oil and springs are more important..

PROGRESSIVE SPRINGS and 5 Weight oil like posted above is what I did for my 01 FXDX and it made a world of difference along with a Fork Brace and Steering Dampener. Dialed that sucker right in and it works beautifully.......even hard wheelie landings are a cinch .
