Front brake pads - No gap?

Front brake pads - No gap?
Looked at my front brake pads and there is virtually NO gap between pad and disc on the inside. Also have a hum that comes on at about 40mph and gets louder in turns. Methinks there should be a .040 gap according to the manual.

When was the last time the brake fluid was changed? Stuck piston in caliper? Return hole in Master Brake Cylinder plugged? When was the last time you had the caliper(s) off and checked for crud on the piston/piston seals. Just suggestions of where to look. Hope you find the issue.

No Gap is normal...There should be virtually no gap between rotor and pad material.
The .040 you refer to is the spec for minimum pad friction material thickness
