FXDLS Gold Wheels
#11
The fxdls wheels and colour are the most identifiable part of what is a unique bike so mine will stay that way. If I ever feel tempted to go a brighter gold colour or black, I'll buy another set of wheels from a low rider to play with.
i felt the same about my old fatboy. The solid wheels are what makes a fatboy.
I reckon the fxdls will be collectable in years to come. Not just because it was a limited run, but it's the last of the dynas with the most unique features. If it becomes collectable that'll be a bonus for me as it's not a reason I bought one . I also have the 117 kit.

I debated this too when I bought mine. They had another one with black wheels that looked sharp, but I can honestly say I am glad I kept them gold. The color seriously grows on you, takes a couple months or just seeing one drive by, that immediately makes the color choice make sense.
It's not a color I would have ever picked if you asked me what a good color would be, it's a good 15 foot color, but it works.
However if you like them black it also looks good. I wouldn't worry too much on resale or things like that, just make it yours. I personally really love the stock look.

I was parked yesterday outside of the post office and a guy complimented me on my bike. He said it reminded him of a HD from the 70’s. I suggested that he might be thinking about an XLCR and he agreed. I thought it was pretty cool someone remembered that bike. I do wish the wheels were a bit more gold color and less poo color, though!
I am thinking of PC mine black but I’ve never had wheels done before. Do they chip easy from rocks or having tires mounted?

To all who have the SE117 kit, are there any disadvantages?
Do you gain additional heat?
Do you lose any street manners? Is the 117 OK for putting around town, or is it high-strung and always wants to run?
Thanks
