Personally I think it looses some attitude without the gold. The black and gold made it different. But to each their own, I'll be happy being the only guy with peanut butter wheels.
The peanut butter gold poo is what helps define the model. I know owning any HD, customizing comes naturally, but taking away what makes it unique just rubs me the wrong way. Or I'm just a cynical bastard. Probably that.
For me I prefer anything but gold, but it's your bike.
I grew up in an era when the Black / Gold Trans Ams were the big thing. I vowed if I saw another, I would puke. That and the gold emblem stuff in the 90's. I generally steer away from anything gold.

That is a dam good looking bike! Only thing I don't like about the FXDLS is the chopped fender. I would rock the peanut butter wheels if it were mine.
My orange stripes on the wheels were kind of a tribute to the "Sturgis" model dynas that were introduced in 1980 and 1981 I believe. That was unique. I'm not much of a black and chrome guy since it seems to be so common, I like a bit more zip. The checkered flag V on my gas tank was airbrushed on. Gal did an awesome job.
