Electrical help on '09 Dyna
I replaced starter (after market brand) but shorted out electrical when I installed it. It cranked for a second or so, then all lights, power went off.
I think I found the short and corrected it, but still no power. The 40 amp fuse looked good, but I replaced it anyway. Still no lights, horn, dash, nothing.
Could it be a relay? Are there other fuses besides those in the fuse box? The electrical manual I downloaded a year ago is corrupted, so I can't look there.I hate tp pay for the manual twice.
Thanks...Rich ... Houston
The big terminal on the bottom of the starter (connector between starter and solenoid?) has a rubber cover. I scraped it loose when trying to fit starter onto bike. I think that may have shorted out when I cranked bike. The bike cranked for one second then everything shut off. I pulled starter back out, put terminal cover back on and reconnected starter.
But, nothing comes on now so it seems like blown main fuse, but 40 amp fuse is still good.
I guess I'll have to find electrical diagram and go thru it.
Do you know if the bike has a fusible link, other than fuses in the fuse box?
