I think there's a method to upgrade to a 07 and newer rotor...

Anyone have any experience with an older bike? It is a terrible design and I think they should stand behind that.
I'm in the same boat. Mine blew up last weekend, too. Did you have to remove the inner primary to remove the rotor/stator?

Hi Shovelheadroad. No. You only need to remove the outer primary ( if it's the same as the Street Bob).
Don't have to remove the cluttch either.

I did because of a lip in my inner primary. I'm glad I did because my shift lever was loose. If you need to take off inner primary, take your battery box out first. Makes for an easier job getting those hex nut starter bolts out. Pretty straightforward jobber though.

I've been down that road swapping my wideglide's IPB for the baker bearing a couple of years ago. I used a super long allen wrench to loosen the starter. Didn't learn about the '06 rotor issues till after I buttoned it up of course. I was hoping somebody could tell me if there was a shortcut. Going to find out anyway I guess, lol.

Some guys including a buddy of mine used a dremel tool to take the lip off from the bottom of the case. Mine was rubbing at the 8-10 o' clock position too, so I said the hell with it and took off the inner primary. I didn't do the bearing as mine was in good shape. If the bearing does go, I'll take it apart again. I don't mind an excuse to escape to the garage once in a while.

I think I'll give the dremel method a try if at all possible. It's all about riding time for me...plus I'm a lazy bastard. Iol.
