Anyone had a problem with the fork lock? On my FXDBI, the lock will not engage. Goes about 1/2 way and sticks. I tried the WD-40, no luck. May have got jammed by towing it last week...they jam the front tire up against the front stop on the tow truck and jack it down.
I use Remington Dri-lube. It was sticking, especially after a heavy rain or when I washed it. After I sprayed the Dri-lube in there, no problems at all. It seems to last longer than other stuff that I have used in the past. [sm=chattypair.gif]
Dealer rep who sold me my Street Bob recommended leaving the key slightly to the left of the 'off' position if you are not removing it immediately. That will keep it in place, and not engage the fork lock.
I have an 09 fxdl(low rider) and this started a few months ago, fork wouldn't lock, rings not right inside the switch I guess. A friend pushed in the button underneath the ignition area and it worked for a while. Stopped again, but could still start. The other day, couldn't start the bike. Tried messing with that button again and nothing, an hour or so later, a guy managed to get it working. Going to order a new one and replace it asap. It's a poor design issue anyway on these bikes, but seems it may be a common issue to have problems with it.
Am I the only fan of "PB blaster" ? I quit using WD-40 a couple years ago and PB has been great for everything I use it on and lasts longer then WD-40 ever did for me anyway.. Good luck, Mojo
you really are better off not using oil...it collects dirt and grit. A better lube for this is dry moly lube for guns...easy to find at WallyWorld or Academy...I use it on my firearms.
