I got the same bike, I was wondering about the same thing. Wanna get some apes that are about 4-5" higher than the mini apes. And yeah, you'll need new cables, I was talkin to the guys at the shop couple weeks ago about raising my bars, anything over about 1" (they say) is gonna require new cables. Forgot to ask about the wiring tho, dunno if theres enough for that. So anyway, post pics of how it looks when you get done, bars you get, etc etc. Good luck

I have a 2000 Wide Glide and I had the stock mini apes on it for awhile and then I switched to 16" Ape Hangers. I have the Wild 1 Chubby's done with the internal wiring and the steel braided cables done on mine. This is just me talking, but if you want to go to a 14" your definately going to need new cables for everything so if your willing to do it I suggest going with the Wild 1 Chubby's with the internal wiring done. You'll appreciate it later down the rode mainly because it gives your handlebars a much cleaner look without having all these wires hanging around. You can take it any HD dealer and they will take about 7 hours to do it. You can also search on this forum and there are some posts on how to the internal wiring yourself, but I personally didn't trust myself with the electrical so I had HD do it for me and all together it cost around $1200. But thats with the bars, new cables, installation and new grips. That's just my 2 cents.

Nice link airborne.

I just put 13" x 1 1/2" apes pn my 06 Bobber and YES you will need new cables but the stock wires were long enough for internal wireing. Overall I am pleased with the mod , butI had a hard time deciding on 13" vs 16". I think I made the right choice for now.
