If your bike is a carbed, you can probably pick up the signal from the coil but if it is a FI bike, you will need to get the signal from the ecm. Mine is a 06 FI bike and that's what I had to do. Sorry, just noticed that you do have a FI bike.

from their catalog. Most aftermarket are two high a rpm range.
Couple place to pick up rpm readout on bike. Then also a ground and a display light.

On this note...Pretty much any Harley tach pre 2012 will work (assuming you arent on canbus). I used a sporty tach on my '09 SB.
