I had some clutch slippage with the VPC on. Clutch would grab way to late when letting out the lever.
So, I removed the VPC to adjust the clutch. Then I put the VPC back on. Here’s the problem:
After tightening the 5 VPC screws, I noticed that it pulled the pressure plates all the way out ( toward the left side of bike or toward the primary side). The screws grabbed the whole clutch and pulled it to where the plates have compressed the spring and star shim, putting complete pressure on the VPC, whereas the weights are all bound up and tight.
In addition, the cable shortened and it took up all the slack; lever became hard. Yes, cable adjuster was all the way slack before adjusting clutch and putting on VPC.
Why did you remove the VPC to adjust the clutch? You should have only needed to adjust the clutch cable shorter if it was coming on too late. Also, that is in stark contrast to now you can't get the clutch to release. I think you need to back out the release plate and locknut on the adjustment screw that holds the in the clutch and start your adjustments from there. Remember, the adjustment screw should barely seat to the clutch release rod.
