I need to change something to make adjusting my tire pressure easier. My spoke rims have center valve stems and both axles have "dual discs", small diameters, and wide widths. It's a real hassle to snake my current air chuck and hand in there to check the pressure.
What y'all using? I'm thinking some kind of 90 adapter on the valve stem...
You can have new valves installed engles or tee work great but it may cost a bit to have them installed.
The stems are molded into the tubes. I could get tubes with 90 degree stems but I'm not in a hurry to change tires/tubes. Besides, it's hard enough to find tubes that fit my weird *** wheels.
I've used one of these Longacre gauges for about seven years now... It's been solid and reliable. My only gripe is that sometimes the battery discharges rapidly, but not always... It's probably my fault... Maybe I put it away in a manner that turns it on sometimes.
Your situation definitely looks tough to reach, though! Maybe you could get in from the side with the small end this ships with?
If/when you get angled stems, even on a tube, get metal, acceleration/deceleration forces really twist a rubber stem and they can fail early. I had one break off when I tried to put air in it - in my garage, fortunately. Haven't put rubber stems on a bike in many years. I'd never put an extension on a rubber stem, either.
