I'm from the Old School, to me that Question is like asking would I prefer a 1964 #SS Impala or a 2016 Toyota Camry .. To me the '01 FXDX is a No Brainer ..

that is not even close to the same comparison....if you want to use a car anolgy, then maybe a 2001 Toyota Camry that is top of the line, compared to a 2016 base model.
Same company same model line, just different trim level and of course the 18 yr difference....that is a more apples to apples comparison...

Think you missed my point I would prefer a 64 Impala over a Brand New Camry .. Same way I feel with choosing an 01 FXDXT over a Brand New Street Bob .. I don't have an old carbed Dyna because it's the only thing I can afford I have some serious wrenching into it and doubt would sell it for 10 Grand .. I truly wanted a 2000 or 2001 FXDX when was searching and they were scarce or priced out of the Ball Park so settled for this Showroom Looking Dyna with low miles and knew the owner and that it was well kept

Fair enough.....when I bought my bikes both 2012's I was looking at a 2001 FXDXT and they wanted more money then my 2012, rare or not by Harley Standards, its only rare to those few people who love stock bikes, most riders in general will have no clue what it is, just that its a Dyna if they could even tell that.
Ask someone who has only owned only softails or baggers what it is....Nice Sporters they will say.....
I always customize the **** out of my bikes anyway so a plain Jane FXD is fine for me, in my case I was able to buy a 2012 Fxdc and still had money to put towards my 2012 FLD which I would not have if I had bought the 01.

Can totally understand that .. Is Your money and Your Call ... I was just pointing out the little known features that come with the FXDX .. But still happen to be Happy with my 05 FXD just took more money to get it the way I wanted, but at the same token cost a hell of a lot less to buy as well ( $4,000 )
