The bike's running worse than it ever has. Like a jack-hammer. It's a sad commentary when you take a bike to an "Expert" and get it back in worse shape than it was.
What did Tatro actually say? Did he say it vibrates like crazy but he can't figure it out? Did he say it's running properly? Does he acknowledge the vibration as an issue, or does he say it's performing as it should?
Somehow I don’t think we’re getting the whole story on this....information is all one sided and not the side the forum members require to provide a proper response...
So to follow up what was the conversation you had with Tatro? I am assuming you had one, any competent mechanic would want to know the history of the bike as well as what has been done to it prior to him/her working on it.
Should have gone something like this:
Hi, Im, insert name here, and I have a Fatbob which is having some vibration issues. It has always had a nasty vibration which I am trying to figure out. I know my bike is not operation correctly as I have ridden a few other Fatbobs and mine feels like a paint shaker compared to them.
I have been to a few other mechanics to try and fix this issue with no positive results. So far we have changed out the Motor mounts front and back and (add details of what has been done to try and correct the problem). You have been highly recommended so I am hoping you can help me.
Tatro:
Sure when can you bring the bike in or (depending on circumstances) sure can I take it for a ride? Rides the bike and says ..yes there is something wrong or no bike seems to be running fine .
Then moves into fixing the problem and keeping you informed along the way like hey I measured your flywheel run out and its way out of spec. I can rebuild them or you can replace them with quality units from SS etc. Its a complete motor rebuild so can I recommend upgrading some other parts while we are in there, like you lifters, pushrods maybe even adding a cam to it . etc etc?
Probably went more like this:
Hay my POS Harley is ****ed, its a POS and I cant sell it, no one wants it ..its been to a 100 ****ing mechanics and they were all ****ed cause no one can fix this POS. The flywheels are ****ed, I know it, how much to replace the flywheels cause thats the cause of my vibration cause I changed out the ****ing motor mounts and it didnt cure ****. So change the flywheels cause thats the problem
Tetro Um ok change flywheels if you say so but it probably wont cure your problem
Too bad Tetro was not on this forum, would be a hoot to hear what he would have to say....
Huggerbugger ???? Honestly I am just poking a little fun at your expense but come on we only want to help you...
